File Formats for sending artworkWe use CorelDraw5 for all our single color artwork. You may send us CorelDraw CDR files from any version of CorelDraw up to version 11. Always convert all text to curves before sending. We may not have all the same fonts that you are using. If you are using Adobe Illustrator save your file as AI, EPS, or export to TIF. Macintosh users usually can save to either EPS or TIF, and they should choose "IBM Format" if given the choice by the program. Other graphics programs (from scanners or digital cameras, etc.) usually can export to TIF files (save as 600 DPI at double size) GIF files should be large screen size (400x400 or larger). That way it will have enough detail when we reduce it down to 1.25". Graphic file size should be less than 500k in size. If your graphic is larger than 1MB, something is wrong (saved as color, oversized page, etc.)

How to Design your artworkGraphics requirements are explained belowCheck out the Wooden Nickel Museum to see examples of Wooden Nickels made by others. Use the menu on the left side of the musuem home page to select various pages of Wooden Nickels sorted by topics. LESS is MORE! The MORE words you put on a Wooden Nickel, the smaller the lettering will be, and the LESS impact it will have. Generally all we need is the Text information and a general layout and we will do all the typesetting. We do not charge any additional fees for typesetting on the curve (most of our competitors do) so you can make the best use of all the available space. The available print size is 1.25" diameter for Wooden Nickels, 1.75" for Jumbo Wooden Nickels Sample:Top Curve: Good For One DrinkCenter: Mac's Bar Center: "Shamrock Logo" Center: 210-829-1291 Bottom Curve: San Antonio, TX Print in GREEN Other side "Stock Indian" (R2) | |||
How to send us artworkIf you have a logo or other artwork you have 2 ways to send it to us.1. Mail 2. Email FAX is generally NOT suitable for sending artwork. If you do try to send art as a FAX, please make the drawing as large as possible. We print by letterpress, so all our artwork is in Monochrome - Line Art. (Black & White, not shades of gray or color)
On the computer all work is done in Black & White, during the actual printing we select the ink color to use instead of Black. Large BLACK areas will not print well. It will show the grain of the wood as well as any surface scratches and the wood pores.
You must design your Logo in "Outline" form more like a coloring book.
